Surf Trem

We have given the Vintage Series a face lift! A new, fresh, anodized pedal designed for a smaller pedal board footprint, with all the same great tones. Here are the first in the series:  Remember the great tremolo tones of the 50’s and 60’s? The ‘Surf Trem’ gets its’ trem circuit from the CM Tremovibe. With just a ‘speed’ and ‘depth’ control (just like our old tube amp) those classic tones are easy to achieve. The retro heavy diecast case, cool colour and heavy duty bypass switch, make the ‘Surf Trem’ a must have in every pedal box.

VINTAGE GUITAR (USA) MAY 2006

First up we tried the Surf Trem and with excellent results, it proved to have a lush 50s Fenderish style tremolo effect with an un-choppy deep swish and smooth wave form that sounded great. Switching the pedal in and out several times revealed that it did not color the tone at all and did not add any noise, clean and transparent, just adding the an outstanding tremolo effect. We compared the Surf Trem to the tremolo circuit in the Fender Bandmaster, and could get them to sound nearly exactly the same, in fact we almost preferred the Surf Trem because of its ability to produce a deeper effect and its wider range of speed settings.

It sounds "old fashioned", with the knobs at bottom it becomes a soft and tender vibe, it can also be a discreet trem or enter-in.
Very solid, well thought out, this price is crazy.
Bravo Carl Martin!

With the surf trem I get very close to the tremolo sound of the guitar break at the end of the beatless song "Got to get you into my life" (the "bells and whistles" casino, not the jerked and not the "scruffy" ones), that's what I was hoping for had and it works. Is amazing how often the tremolo effect (often subtle) is used in pop music. Easy device.

Those who prefer the round and soft tremolo sounds of classic Fender amps will definitely find what they are looking for at the Carl Martin Surf Trem. In addition to an authentic sound, the cheap pedal also convinces with a clean and robust craftsmanship and a chic design. When the effect is activated, the noise level is increased a little, but this shouldn't be a problem in most situations. I enjoyed playing the new version of the Surf Trem a lot.
